Welp. I did something today. Something that I have been debating for some time now. I've kicked the idea around for several years now. As a military family, where we call home changes every 2-3 years. I am highly introverted but have a passion for people. I always want to make a positive impact, to the best of my current ability, on the community in which are currently living. At our last duty station, my husband was a squadron commander. I was also working and had an infant grandson that I took care of (well.I still do. lol) In that duty station, my way of impacting the community was loving on and encouraging the Airmen in my husband's squadron and their families.
Once command was over this past summer, I needed a bit of introvert time to mentally regroup and settle into our new "home." For a number of years, I thought about how I could give back to my local community while also doing something I enjoy. I had kicked around the idea of direct marketing and contributing a portion of my commission to a local charity. With Noonday, I get a chance to make a double impact. You and I can make a global impact by providing women around the world with dignified work, AND we can make an impact on the DC Metro community. For me, hunger has always been an issue close to my heart, and I often look to local food banks as a place to serve. Earning some extra personal income allows me to pour more into my community. While we are stationed here, I will be donating a percentage of my commissions to the Capital Area Food Bank.
